Industry Experience

During the first year of my degree, I undertook the role of Assistant Label Manager of the Birmingham campus' record label project, River St Records. As I progressed to second year, I became the Label (Product) Manager, which involved managing all aspects of the label relating to production, A&R and distribution. Alongside this, I became the Head of A&R of the volunteer-run startup label, Plant Pot Records.

Through the summers of 2024 and 2025 and worked and volunteered at multiple mid-sized music festivals in multiple capacities. These include 2000Trees as Stage Crew on the Main Stage, Truck Festival as Artist Liaison Assistant in the Accreditation Office, Nozstock The Hidden Valley as Artist Liaison in the Cabinet of Lost Secrets and Hereford Indie Food as an Accreditation Assistant on the Main Gate in 2024. In 2025, they include Bearded Theory as Artist Liaison for the Woodland (third) Stage, SXSW London Roadshow as a Stage Manager in my university's theatre, Truck Festival as the Operations Assistant and YNOT Festival as the Dressing Room Host for Artist Liaison.

In October 2024 I promoted 'Indie Night', a grassroots gig at the Night Owl, Birmingham. The gig saw performances from Mac Wood, Gazza's Midnight Nuns (now Hanabira), The Skeme and Purple Liar. Since the gig, I have started managing Hanabira and Mac Wood.

Instrument and Theory Experience

I started playing the piano when I started secondary school in 2016, which was a gateway into music for me. With my former piano teacher I completed ABRSM's Grade 2 Piano Exam with a merit, Grade 4 with a distinction (including 30/30 in my Piece B!) and Grade 5 with a pass.

The practical exams which I have completed typically consist of:

Pieces- Playing 3 prepared pieces of music from a 'syllabus list'.

Scales and Arpeggios- Playing a selection of similar motion, chromatic and contrary-motion scales, as well as arpeggio chords.

Sight-reading- Playing a piece of music which has not been seen previously, after 30 seconds of preparation.

Aural tests- Singing a played melody from memory, singing a read melody, clapping played rhythms and answering questions about time signatures, tonality, dynamics, tempo, character, articulation and style and period.

I have also been self-teaching the guitar and drums on an amateur level, and am now at a point where I understand extremely basic guitar theory (chord charts, TABS, etc).
